Mission Statement
It is the mission of the Select Community Federal Credit
Union to provide a variety of qualified financial services designed to meet
the personal financial needs of each family member in a friendly, professional
and cost effective manner.
History
In 1942 a group of McGill employees got together and
formed the Credit Union. It's purpose was and still is today to provide
financial opportunities to its members. Select Community Federal Credit
Union is a member owned, not for profit institution cooperative. Our excess
earnings are returned to the members with low cost products and services.
What is a Credit Union?
A credit union is a cooperative, not-for-profit financial
institution chartered by the state or federal government. It is owned and
controlled by its members. Credit unions only serve members in the fields
of membership named in their charters. As not-for-profit financial service
cooperatives, credit unions return earnings to their members in higher savings
rates, better service, and lower borrowing rates. In contrast to banks,
credit unions exist to serve their member-owners — the people who save
and borrow there.
